Question – Do tooth pairs in contact have to be symmetrical? (for example, lower left second molar and upper left second molar are in contact, but lower right second molar and upper right second molar are not in contact)

Answer – We strive for a class I relationship of the canine tooth, but symmetrical tooth pair contact may not happen in cases where asymmetric extractions have occurred.  For example, in cases where only one tooth is removed, obviously that side won’t have the same tooth contacting.
